Abu Omar Halal first opened in 2011 as Houston’s first and only halal food truck. The original concept offered a fusion of Mexican and Middle Eastern flavors, but guests overwhelmingly gravitated toward the Middle Eastern dishes—especially chicken shawarma.
After an initial venture that did not succeed, our founder relaunched the concept in 2015 with valuable experience gained from working in the restaurant industry as a line cook, head chef, and manager. With this deeper operational and hospitality knowledge, Abu Omar Halal quickly grew from a single truck into a multi-state brand with more than twenty food truck and storefront locations.
Our mission is to share the traditional tastes of the Middle East with the American public in an environment that both showcases Middle Eastern hospitality and fits the fast-paced lifestyle of our diverse customer base.
Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine has become increasingly popular, driven by interest in healthier eating patterns, social media exposure, and greater guest curiosity about diverse flavors.
Many competitors in this space are independent or family-run businesses. Abu Omar Halal has the advantage of being an early entrant with more than a decade of operational experience and a franchise framework designed to support new owners.
