Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 2, 2026

Introduction

Abu Omar Halal operates this website to share information about our restaurants: our menu, our locations and hours, our current offers, our catering and private event services, and opportunities to join our team or open a franchise. This policy explains what information this website collects, why we collect it, how we handle it, and the choices you have.

This policy covers this website only. Online ordering, our mobile apps, the app stores, social media platforms and other services you reach through links on this website are operated separately and handle your information under their own privacy practices. See Third-Party Services and External Links below.

Using this website, and sending us information through it, is also subject to our Terms of Service.

Information We Collect

This website collects information in three ways: the information you choose to type into one of our forms, a small amount of technical information recorded alongside that submission, and the technical information that the third-party services described below receive from your browser. It has no visitor accounts, no sign-in, no shopping cart and no checkout, so there is nothing to register for and no payment information is collected here.

Information Visitors Provide

You can send us information through these forms, and only these forms:

  • Contact form. Your first and last name, email address and phone number, the topic you select, the location you are asking about if you choose one, and your message.
  • Catering inquiry. Your name, email address and phone number, your company name if you give one, the type of event, the event date, the number of guests, the venue, and the details you describe.
  • Private event inquiry. Your name, email address and phone number, the type of event and the service you are interested in, the date and time, the number of guests, your company name if you give one, the event address and ZIP code, and the details you describe.
  • Careers application. Your name, email address and phone number, your home address, the locations and area of work you are interested in, your employment preference, your message, and a resume file if you choose to attach one.
  • Franchise inquiry. Your name, email address and phone number, your country, state and city, the franchise model you are interested in, your investment capacity, and your answer to the optional consent question about receiving text messages from us.
  • Email signup. Your email address, your first name if you give one, and your confirmation that you want to receive our emails. We store the wording of that confirmation and the date you gave it, so we have a record of what you agreed to.

Please send only what you are comfortable sharing. No form on this website asks for a payment card number, a bank account number, a Social Security number or other government identification number, or health information, and you should not put that kind of detail into a message or an attached file.

Information Collected Automatically

When you submit one of the forms above, the website records the following alongside your submission:

  • The date and time of the submission.
  • The address of the page the form was on.
  • The description your browser sends with every request, identifying the browser and operating system (the user agent string).
  • A one-way, salted cryptographic hash of your IP address. Your IP address itself is not stored, and the hash cannot be turned back into it. It is used only to limit repeated automated submissions and to avoid saving the same submission twice.

If a form cannot be submitted because something was missing or invalid, what you had typed is held briefly so the page can give it back to you to correct, and is then discarded.

The company that hosts this website keeps standard server logs, as web hosting generally does, for operating, maintaining and securing the service.

Separately from that, this website uses, or is being prepared to use, the measurement, advertising, abuse-prevention and embedded-content services named under Third-Party Services and External Links below. Where one of those services is in use, your browser contacts that company directly and it receives technical information about your visit, which typically includes your IP address, the pages you look at on this website, the page or advertisement you arrived from, and your device, browser and approximate general location as that company determines it. We do not control what those companies collect, and each of them operates under its own privacy policy.

These services are being introduced in stages, so a service named in this policy may not yet be running at the moment you read this. We name them here in advance rather than add them quietly later.

How We Use Information

We use what you send us to:

  • Read and answer your message, inquiry or request.
  • Discuss, plan and quote catering and private events you ask about.
  • Review job applications and franchise inquiries, and follow up with you about them.
  • Send you our email updates and offers, if you asked to receive them.
  • Keep an internal record of the inquiries our business receives, including notes our staff add while handling yours.
  • Protect the website and our forms from spam, abuse and repeated automated submissions.
  • Understand what our guests are asking for, so we can improve our menu, our locations and our service.

We use the information that measurement services collect about how pages on this website are visited to understand how people find and use the site, and the information that advertising services collect to measure and to run Abu Omar Halal advertising.

We do not use what you send us through our forms to target advertising at you, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you. The measurement and advertising tags described below work from page visits; they are not given the contents of your form submissions.

How Information Is Shared

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not rent or trade it to data brokers.

Measurement and advertising deserve a precise answer rather than a reassuring one. Where the services described below are in use, information about your visit to this website goes directly from your browser to those companies, and they may use it to measure this website, to measure our advertising, and to show you Abu Omar Halal advertising on their own platforms. Several US state privacy laws treat that kind of activity as sharing personal information, or as targeted advertising, even though no money changes hands, and we are not going to claim otherwise. What is involved there is how this website is browsed, not the contents of what you type into our forms.

Beyond that, your information may be seen or handled by:

  • Our own staff and the managers responsible for the kind of inquiry you sent, and the owner or operator of the Abu Omar Halal location your inquiry concerns.
  • Service providers that operate this website and deliver our email on our behalf, such as our web hosting company and the outgoing mail service our messages are sent through. They may handle the information only as needed to provide those services to us.
  • Our professional advisers, where we need their advice on a matter your inquiry relates to.
  • Other parties where the law requires it, where we must answer a lawful request from a government or law enforcement authority, or where it is necessary to establish or defend our legal rights or to protect the safety of our guests, our staff or the public.
  • A successor, if our business or part of it is reorganized, sold or transferred. In that case the information would continue to be handled under a policy no less protective than this one.

Third-Party Services and External Links

Several buttons and links on this website take you to services operated by other companies, and a few parts of the site display content loaded from them. When that happens you are dealing with that company, not with this website, and its own privacy practices and terms apply to what you do there. We do not control those companies and are not responsible for how they handle your information. Please read their policies before you give them information. The services involved are these.

Running the Website and Our Email

  • Web hosting. This website and the submissions it stores are held on servers operated by our hosting company in the United States, which keeps the standard server logs described above.
  • Email delivery. Mail this website sends, such as the copy of your inquiry that reaches the right person on our team, is delivered through a third-party outgoing mail (SMTP) service. That provider handles the message, including your name, email address and what you wrote, only in order to deliver it for us. Our own address is always the sender; yours is used as the reply address so we can write back.

Measurement and Advertising

  • Google Analytics 4, through Site Kit by Google. This measures how our pages are found and used, so we can see which pages, locations and offers people look for. When it is in use it loads a Google script, may set cookies or similar identifiers on your device, and sends Google the technical information about your visit described above. We see summary reports, not a list of named visitors.
  • Google Tag Manager. If we choose to manage our Google tags through Tag Manager, its container script loads from Google and places the tags described in this policy. Only one Google tagging method is ever active at a time, so Tag Manager and a direct Analytics tag are not both loaded.
  • Meta Pixel. This is an advertising measurement tag from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. Where it is in use it reports to Meta that a page on this website was viewed, together with the technical information your browser sends, and it may set cookies or similar identifiers. Meta may connect that with an account you are signed in to, and the information may be used to measure our advertising and to show you Abu Omar Halal advertising on Meta’s platforms. It is not given the contents of our forms.

Protecting Our Forms

  • Google reCAPTCHA v3. This judges automatically whether a form submission is likely to come from a person or from software. Where it is in use it loads a Google script on pages that carry a form and collects information about your device and how you interacted with the page for that purpose, under Google’s own privacy policy and terms. It works in the background and does not ask you to solve a puzzle. We receive only a risk score for the submission, which we use to decide whether to accept it.

Content Loaded From Other Services

  • Instagram feed. Our homepage shows our latest Instagram posts. The website asks the official Instagram API, on a schedule of its own, for a short bounded list of our most recent posts, and keeps only that list on our server, replacing it each time. It does not build an archive of our Instagram account here, and it does not collect anything about you from Instagram. Your page does not wait for Instagram to answer. The pictures themselves, however, are displayed from Instagram’s own image servers, so your browser requests them from Meta when that section loads, and Meta receives your IP address and the usual request information. We ask your browser not to send the page address with those requests. If the feed is unavailable, the section falls back to pictures stored on this website.
  • Maps. Each individual restaurant page shows a small embedded map, and our Locations page draws map tiles, from OpenStreetMap. Those map images are requested by your browser when the map comes into view, so the OpenStreetMap tile servers receive your IP address and the usual request information. This website uses no Google Maps interface and no map API key.
  • Video. Some pages show a background video hosted by Vimeo. The player is requested only when your browser and your settings allow it, and we ask Vimeo not to track the playback. If you have told your browser to reduce motion or to save data, no video is requested at all.

Links That Take You Elsewhere

  • Online ordering. Our order buttons open a separate online ordering service. Everything you enter there, including your order, your delivery or pickup details and your payment, is collected and handled by that service and the restaurant systems behind it, not by this website.
  • Catering ordering. Our catering order button opens our ezCater catering ordering page, which works the same way.
  • Mobile apps and app stores. Links on this website take you to the Apple App Store and Google Play. Downloading and using the Abu Omar Halal app is covered by the app store’s terms and by the app’s own privacy disclosures, not by this page.
  • Social media. Links to our profiles on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, YouTube, LinkedIn and Snapchat, and to our Linktree page, take you to those platforms, which will recognise you if you are signed in to them.
  • Directions. A directions link opens Google Maps in a new tab, where Google’s own policies apply.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

This website’s own code sets no cookie of its own when you browse it as a visitor, because there is no account, no cart and no visitor session to keep track of. WordPress, the software this site runs on, sets cookies only for the people who sign in to administer it.

The third-party services described above are a different matter, and we are not going to tell you that this website uses no cookies at all. Where measurement, advertising, abuse-prevention, map, video or social content services are in use, they may set their own cookies or similar identifiers on your device, or read ones that are already there, under their own policies. Measurement and advertising services in particular depend on them.

One further detail is worth stating precisely: the website saves a single value in your browser’s own session storage to remember that you closed the app promotion bar, so it does not come back while you keep browsing. That value stays on your device, is cleared when you close the tab, and is never sent to us.

As for controlling this, most browsers let you block or delete cookies and offer a private browsing mode, and Google and Meta each provide privacy and advertising controls in their own account settings. Blocking cookies may change how some third-party content on this website behaves. This website does not present a cookie banner or an on-site opt-out control of its own; if we add one, we will describe it here and change the Last Updated date.

Data Retention

Form submissions and email signups are stored in this website’s own database so that we can answer them and keep a record of the inquiries we receive.

We have not fixed a set number of days for each type of submission. Rather than publish a period we do not actually apply, we will tell you the standard we use: we keep what you send only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose you sent it, for the security of this website, for our legal and recordkeeping obligations, and for handling any dispute or claim it relates to. When it is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete it.

The website does include a facility to delete career applications and their attached resume files automatically after a chosen period. As of the Last Updated date that facility is not switched on. If we adopt fixed retention periods, we will state them here.

You can ask us to delete what you sent at any time, whatever the retention position is. See Privacy Rights and Requests.

Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, and we have deliberately kept the amount of it small.

  • Submissions are stored in this website’s own database rather than passed to an outside marketing platform.
  • Resume files are written to a private folder that is not served to the public web, and can be opened only by staff accounts that have permission to review applications.
  • Submissions and attachments never appear on a public page, in search results, in a feed or in the sitemap.
  • Reaching the administration area requires an account, and accounts are given only to people who need one.
  • Your IP address is stored only as a one-way hash, as described above, so it cannot be read back out of our records.

No website, method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If you have reason to believe that information you sent us is at risk, please contact us so we can look into it.

Privacy Rights and Requests

You can ask us to:

  • Confirm whether we hold information you sent through this website, and give you a copy of it.
  • Correct information you sent that is inaccurate.
  • Delete information you sent, including any resume file attached to it.
  • Take you off our email list. We have not begun sending marketing email from this website; when we do, every message will carry a way to unsubscribe, and in the meantime you can simply ask us to remove you.
  • Stop sending you text messages, if you gave consent for them on the franchise form. You can withdraw that consent at any time by asking us, or by replying STOP to any message you receive from us.

To make a request, use our contact form and tell us what you would like us to do. We will respond within a reasonable time. Our staff answer access and deletion requests using the export and erase tools built into this website, which cover the inquiries it holds and any resume file attached to them. We may need to ask you for enough detail to be confident that the request relates to your own submission, and we will use whatever you give us for that purpose only. You will not be charged, refused service or treated differently for making a privacy request.

Children’s Privacy

This website is intended for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us information through this website, please contact us and we will delete it.

US State Privacy Rights

A number of US states give their residents rights over personal information, typically the right to know what a business holds about them, to receive a copy, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale, of targeted advertising and of certain kinds of profiling. Whether any particular state law applies to a particular business depends on that law’s own thresholds and exemptions, and this policy does not claim that any given one applies to us.

We have taken the simpler route: rather than ask which state you live in, we offer every request listed under Privacy Rights and Requests to anyone who contacts us about information they sent through this website.

Three points apply wherever you live. First, we do not sell personal information for money. Second, when the measurement and advertising services described above are in use, information about how this website is browsed is collected by those companies, and some state privacy laws classify that as sharing personal information or as targeted advertising; we would rather say so plainly than claim it never happens, and the controls available for it today are the browser and platform settings described under Cookies and Similar Technologies. Third, this website does not ask for the categories that state privacy laws treat as sensitive, including precise location, government identification numbers, financial account numbers, health information and biometric data, so please do not send them to us.

International Visitors

This website is operated from the United States for restaurants in the United States, and information sent through it is stored and handled in the United States. Our franchise inquiry form asks for a country because people outside the United States do ask about franchising. If you are visiting from another country, please be aware that the privacy laws where you live may differ from those that apply here, and do not send us information through this website unless you are content for it to be handled in the United States.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We will update this policy when our practices change. The measurement, advertising, abuse-prevention and embedded-content services named above are being introduced in stages, and we have named them here before switching them on rather than adding them quietly afterwards. When we update this policy we will change the Last Updated date at the top of this page, and a change that affects what we collect or how we use it will be described here rather than made quietly. Please look at this page from time to time.

Contact Us

If you have a question about this policy, or want to make one of the requests described above, please use our contact form and choose the topic that fits best. You can also speak to the team at the restaurant nearest you; each location’s phone number is on our Locations pages.
